What Worked? What Didn’t?

By Sodwana Bay

What Worked? What Didn’t? . . . he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come—2 Corinthians 5:17 God’s at work in us—every one of us—whether we can see it or not (Philippians 2:13). He’s working to transform our character into the character of his son, our King, Jesus Christ. And he’ll continue working until the work is complete (Philippians 1:6). Our job is to join him. Our job is to follow Jesus and work ourselves, in obedience, to increase the amount goodness and light in our lives . . . and to decrease Source: South African LINKWhat Worked? What Didn’t?

He gave his Son

By Sodwana Bay

“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Source: South African LINKHe gave his Son

A NEW NAME!

By Sodwana Bay

“Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel.” — Gen 32:28. “He that overcometh, I will write upon him Mine own New Name.” — Rev 3:12. THROUGH THE Bible, name stands for nature. In those wise old days, names were not given because of their euphonious sound, but as revealing some characteristic trait. Shepherds are said to name their sheep by their defects; in some cases Old Testament names seem to have been given on the same principle. It was so with Jacob. When the Angel said: “What is thy name?” he answered, “Jacob,” supplanter: Never shrink, in Source: South African LINKA NEW NAME!

How can a young person live a clean life?

By Sodwana Bay

How can a young person live a clean life? By carefully reading the map of your Word. I’m single-minded in pursuit of you; don’t let me miss the road signs you’ve posted. I’ve banked your promises in the vault of my heart so I won’t sin myself bankrupt. Be blessed, GOD; train me in your ways of wise living. I’ll transfer to my lips all the counsel that comes from your mouth; I delight far more in what you tell me about living than in gathering a pile of riches. I ponder every morsel of wisdom from you, I attentively watch Source: South African LINKHow can a young person live a clean life?

Go Small to Go Big

By Sodwana Bay

So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone—Galatians 6:10 Once we’ve decided to do something, we men often like to “go big.” We think to ourselves: if we’re going to do this thing, let’s really do it. We can bring this kind of thinking, this “go big” mentality, to all kinds of work, even the work God calls us into—that is, the work of loving and serving others. Great things can result, of course. But the mentality can backfire, too—for example, when we set our ambitions too high, get overwhelmed, and can’t follow through. It’s interesting Source: South African LINKGo Small to Go Big
