Join a host of shark-loving speakers including TV wildlife presenter, Steve Backshall, for an evening celebrating shark conservation in London this November

The UK’s Shark Trust has announced that BAFTA award-winning wildlife TV presenter, Steve Backshall, will be headlining the charity’s flagship ‘For the Love of Sharks’ event at the Royal Geographical Society in London this coming November.

A patron of the Shark Trust for 10 years, Backshall is one of television’s busiest presenters, with a career that has taken him around the world to investigate a wide array of species and environments. Backshall has filmed more than 100 hours of children’s wildlife programmes, including the BAFTA award-winning ‘Deadly 60′ series and, more recently, his new series ‘Whale with Steve Backshall’ for Sky Nature.

Joining Backshall in the speaking line-up is photojournalist Simon Rogerson, former editor of DIVE magazine and now editor of SCUBA, the official magazine of the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC). A Shark Trust patron for 20 years, Rogerson was named ‘Editor of the Year’ in the PPA’s Independent Publishing Awards in 2005 for his work at DIVE, and is a regular contributor to the Sunday Times and Telegraph, plus a host of international scuba diving magazines.

Other speakers scheduled to appear on stage are Ali Hood, Director of Conservation for the Shark Trust, and underwater photographer Kirsty Andrews.

The evening will also give guests the final chance to see the Oceanic 31 shark art exhibition. Some of the artwork will be auctioned/raffled at the event, while the rest will be auctioned online to raise money for the Shark Trust Oceanic Programme.

‘For the Love of Sharks’ will be held at the Royal Geographical Society in London on 29 November 2024 from 6-10pm. Tickets are available at £25 for Shark Trust members (£35 for non-members; £15 for children) from the Shark Trust website at
