Shearwater Research appoints new regional sales manager

Canadian dive computer specialist, Shearwater Research, Inc. has announced the appointment of industry veteran, Richard Vaughn, as its new Regional Sales Manager of the Americas.

Vaughn has been diving for 30 years and has been an instructor for both PADI and DAN. He spent the past 12 years with Aqua Lung, where he held multiple positions including Product Manager, Product Development Manager (BCDs), and most recently as the Director of Dive for the Americas.

‘Richard brings a wealth of dive industry experience and a proven track record in commercial leadership, with a strong background in driving growth and fostering client relationships within the diving and outdoor adventure industries,’ said Shearwater in a statement.

‘Richard will be instrumental in expanding our presence across the Americas and ensuring that our partners receive the highest levels of service and support. We look forward to the exciting opportunities and continued success that his leadership will bring.’

Shearwater’s current Sales Manager, Simon Morris, will be stepping down from the role to pursue a full-time career as a sculptor. Morris, a member of the College of Fellows of the Royal Canadian Geographic Society, is already well known for his mermaid sculpture ‘Amphitrite’, which graces the reef at Sunset House, Grand Cayman, and the ‘Guardian of the Reef,’ which is installed at Grand Cayman’s Lighthouse Point.

‘The recent changes in Shearwater’s global sales strategy, the expansion of high-quality distribution in Europe, and the imminent arrival of an exceptionally skilled and experienced new Sales Manager for The Americas, combined with my own recent personal progress and success in sculpting, have created the perfect moment for me to transition away from my job as Sales Manager for Shearwater and into a full-time life as a sculptor,’ said Morris. I have some exciting sculpting projects on the horizon, including the Poseidon Memorial Reef.’

Morris will remain in his post at Shearwater until 30 September 30 to support the transition.
