Underwater cameral specialist, SeaLife, has announced its new SportDiver Ultra Smartphone housing, designed to accommodate larger models of iPhones and Android smartphones than its predecessor.

The new Ultra model housing has all same the features of the earlier SportDiver housing – including the use of the same SportDiver iOS and Android app – but with a slight increase in length and a new lens port to support the lens clusters popular with many larger Android models such as the Samsung S21, S23, and S24 Ultra models.

The SeaLife SportDiver Ultra housing is rated for 40m of seawater, with a heavy-duty housing constructed of polycarbonate, stainless steel, aluminium, and optical grade glass. The housing weighs in at under 641 grams offering near-neutral buoyancy in the water, depending on which smartphone is used. The ergonomically designed housing has a large shutter lever and rear control buttons to make operation easy, even when wearing dive gloves.

The housing automatically connects to your phone and the SportDiver app using Bluetooth Low Energy wireless technology and offers ultra-low power consumption powered by two AAA batteries that last over 50 hours of continuous use. The free SportDiver camera app for Android and iOS also helps to extend battery life with a power-save mode that temporarily turns the phone’s camera off and dims the display; a touch of any button wakes it up instantly.

The SportDiver Ultra features a new interior design that is less sensitive to moisture caused by opening the door in a damp environment. The door of the SportDiver Ultra is sealed with a TPE O-ring and a robust cam-lock sealing latch that easily and securely locks the waterproof door. The housing also has ‘Dual Leak Alarms’ in the form of both an internal moisture alarm and a vacuum pressure alarm, which alert the diver with on-screen warnings, audio, and an LED signal should the waterproof seal be compromised.

The SportDiver Ultra features seven 1/4-20 tripod mount options, and a removable underwater colour correction filter is included as standard. The housing is also available as a package with a PRO 2500F light set, tray, and handle.

To check if a smartphone model is compatible with the new housing, SeaLife has a fitting guide on its website. For more information and a complete list of specifications, visit the SeaLife SportDiver Ultra Housing homepage.
