Meeting Somane Andersson
My Journey So Far:
Adventure is me. I’ve always been one for the outdoors and have always had such a passion for exploring it. I enjoy my time in nature and have always loved the thrill of Adventure and its’ Industries. I’ve been lucky enough to experience and train in hiking, abseiling, river rafting, working at heights and different safari tours. All of this during an adventure-based gap year program, where I also found my passion for Scuba Diving.
I fell in love with diving from the moment I started my Open Water course in Mozambique 2016, and by the time I left I was hooked! After my time with the adventure-based gap year program, I knew exactly which Industry I wanted to join. So I turned to the Instructor who did my diving course for advice on where to learn. Keryn Van Der Walt, owner of Dive RAID Southern Africa, told me that there is only one place for me to learn.
Next thing I knew I was in Sodwana Bay at Adventure Mania Dive Center, being trained by some of the best RAID Instructors in the Industry. As the story goes and almost 3 years later, I’m still here and my passion has only become stronger. As a diver, a Dive Master, each and every single time you get in the water it is a different experience and that makes it so much more exciting for me. I have never once had the same dive happen twice, and that’s exactly how I like it. Once I became an Instructor it opened a whole new ballgame of challenges and experiences for me to learn from and grow through. I have found a passion in teaching people about this beautiful and vast world that I now work in.
Scuba Diving has taught me patience and acceptance. I am so grateful for the knowledge I have received from RAID as an Organization and in my time at Adventure Mania. I have grown stronger in many ways through diving and through learning where I have. My goal is to show and hopefully give as many people as much passion for this industry as possible.-Somane Andersson
