ALWAYS – Say NO to DRINKING and Driving.
This is an Opinion piece (Persuasive/Argumentative) and not Expository article.
Dear, Drunk Driver… who ever you might be.
Please read Psalm 91 – Read more > Psalm 91
Maybe, I could enlighten you about what drunk driving does to innocent families…
No LIES – It’s going to take some time to forgive you… Deep in my heart I feel somewhat sorry for you! You think your lies and deceit will make things right, just wipe all the wrongs under the rug and it is gone. Maybe in your foolish mind it is so, but for those who had the misfortune of meeting you and your destructive nature – for them it is not over.
Maybe you were taught that this is the way how things must be done, I don’t know? – But I promise you there is another way. The Truth – Gods way! Maybe you have forgotten his face…
Yes, you are young – Yes, we need to forgive you daily and Yes there is no need to shame you and call you by name; when you already paying for the bad choices you made. Your road to recovery will be slow and painful. You have shamed yourself and your loving family; you need to look them in the eyes when they are standing around your hospital bed or when you lying around the house doing nothing. Luckily for your parents they are only standing next to a bed and not a grave.

I am sure you are familiar with this saying; let me remind you where I got this. You quoted this just a week before the accident > “One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it’s worth watching.” Never did you know that you will be in the toughest test of character just a week later – it is funny how life has a way of kicking you in the pie hole when you do not RESPECT life!
I remember being young and ignorant myself and living my life on quotes and saying; as if saying and quotes makes you great, but as years went on, the only thing I learnt was that actions speak louder than words. It’s not your fault you are young, but it is your responsibility to now take stock of your life – “One day your life will flash before your eyes”. Make sure that years from now you won’t be ashamed…Make sure you have No Regrets.

Not so dear Drunk driver, your selfish attempts at killing yourself have failed – the problem here is that your selfishness be it that your parents failed in raising a great man or that you just don’t love your own life; have mixed with INNOCENT bystanders. You made the biggest mistake of your life…
You gave your best at destroying what is dear to me, but you failed! Instead you have destroyed your own! Look around – look in the eyes of those around you. Look how you have almost ripped their hearts into a million pieces…
Some would say – “but he made a mistake!” You did not… Your arrogance has brought you to your knees… The moment you took those keys and drove away, you set in motion things which you can never ever be able to fix or take back. Remember > No regrets!
Let me tell you how awesome my GOD is! Angels came together and took care of us. In the midst of your chaos; my GOD protected my family! He rapped us in HIS love and sheltered us from your tempest.
Psalms 91:8 says: “You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.” On that day it was so true, I was looking into your chaotic live – You lying motionless and hunched over in your car and everybody assuming you are dead. God just said “No! – I will stop you! You might have forgotten my ways and how much I love you, but you will not harm these people – THEY ARE MINE!!! ”

We had no way of getting home but before we saw things were sorted. In the middle of your chaos God made a plan! God provided regardless of your neglect! Thank you for all those amazing kind hearted people who were looking after us at the crash scene and getting us home! May God richly bless your lives and families!
I am so thankful for Gods hand on our lives. I am even more honored that God did not take the drivers side over mine. God just showed me that he has a plan and a purpose for our lives, not that God does not love the other driver; on the contrary He is loved beyond measure. God spared his life…gave him another chance at living a better life.
I am grateful that God said NO – you are not going to kill this family. They won’t survive without each other… They will die a slow death! NO! Praise be to God! We were saved…
We will forgive you… God will provide – GOD IS GOOD!!!
So, Remember before you want to drive home after drinking – This is what drunk driving does to good families!
