Observe God’s Love and portray it in your own life

Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents. Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that. What is the Gospel?

WHAT IS THE GOSPEL? “…that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) Can you describe the Gospel in one sentence? Sometimes we complicate it. We talk about who God is. We include what Jesus did and what is required of us. We may even throw in a bit about what the Gospel is not. The essence of the good news can get lost in lengthy explanations. It may be diluted by denominational dogma, and cluttered by complex theology. According to the apostle Paul, the Gospel is gloriously simple: Jesus Christ died for our sins, He was buried, and He rose from the dead, as said by the prophecies made long before His birth. That’s it. That’s the Gospel! Of course, we can offer profound explanations about how Jesus died for our sins because He is God and had no sin of His own; that His resurrection proved His victory over sin, death, and the devil. The entire Bible is the unveiling of this magnificent rescue plan. But when we share the good news of Jesus with children, keep it simple. That’s what God did for us. God is love.

This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we’re free of worry on Judgment Day—our standing in the world is identical with Christ’s.
