Are you forcing your will?

1 John 5:14-15

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”

“Your will for me is good enough.”

Yesterday’s piece was about the importance of maintaining a connection to God at all times—actually having a relationship. So, today’s verse is quite fitting; we can have full access to all that God offers if only you are willing to make time in your busy schedule or even better integrate God’s thinking into every aspect of your life—and most importantly submit your will for His will.

So, as you grow deeper in love for God, you’ll know how, what you can ask, and when to ask it. As you have matured in your love and by the indwelling of the Spirit, you will know what the will of God is for your life and the purpose that was allotted to you.

When you have a meaningful relationship with Father God, you will start to know and understand the ebb and flow of God’s workings. He gives his love and grace totally free of charge, but as a good father, he won’t always give you what you want or think you need.

Would you help anybody if all they use you for is getting what they want but they are really not interested in a friendship? We all know someone like this, but unfortunately, most of us are like this towards God. He only sees or hears from us when we want something from him or are paddling in deep water.

Prayer:

Father, I admit that I’m selfish and only think of ways to get what I want. I do not want this for myself anymore. I’m sorry…

Lord, your way is better, and your will for me is good enough. I want you, and that is all I want! Let your will be done here on earth as it is in heaven.

In Jesus’ name. Amen!
